New Hire Announcement: CWA Director Airline Passenger Service

Dear Passenger Service Local Union Leaders and Valued Members,

We are pleased to announce Thomas (Tom) Gunning has been hired as CWA Director Airline Passenger Service effective September 15, 2025 reporting to me.

Tom brings over 40 years of airline experience and considerable knowledge of the bargaining process as a member of the bargaining committee in the 2015 and 2023 CWA/American Airlines collective bargaining agreements. He authored the US Airways/American Airlines change of control grievance and settlement of 5.2 million dollars and has been instrumental in numerous other grievance and arbitration cases.

His team leadership over the past 14 years as CWA Local President 1171 representing American Airlines, Piedmont Airlines, and Envoy Airlines will be invaluable to bringing key strengths and decision-making, coaching and mentoring, as well as staff training to help strengthen the structure and reach the goals President Cummings has established for the Airline Passenger Service sector.
