Tell Senators: Poverty Pay Is Not OK at American
As we prepare to resume bargaining for a PIedmont contract under the supervision of a federal mediator, it's more important than ever to urge our senators to tell American CEO Doug Parker that poverty pay isn't okay for a company that makes billions in profits.
Call 1-888-892-8483 today, and ask your senators to urge American to raise wages at its regional carriers, Piedmont and Envoy.

Mediation Begins July 10-13
On June 6-7, we met with the federal mediator as well as the company's bargaining committee for mediation training. We've added a new member to the CWA committee, John Priddy, a Piedmont agent at CRW.
During bargaining, the role of the mediator under the Railway Labor Act is to protect the public interest and manage the mediation process in a manner that moves issues towards an agreement. The mediator is responsible for scheduling timely meetings, determining the location of meetings, and setting the agenda.
The training included problem solving methods to help the committees work through the issues on which we disagree. The mediator requested a list of the most contentious issues in the tentative agreement. According to the bargaining survey, those issues are wages, pay scales, and mandatory overtime language. When we meet on July 10-13, we will propose a complete version of the changes we want to make in the tentative agreement.
Take Action Today
In recent weeks, because of CWA members' calls and visits to Capitol Hill, several members of Congress have called on American CEO Doug Parker to reach fair agreements with Envoy and Piedmont agents. Our calls are making a difference, but we can't let up.
